Another day. Another cancer treatment. ❤️‍🩹 After our last appointment was canceled because Brian’s medication never arrived, we were really hoping today would go smoothly. We arrived around 6:00 and were told they were running about 30 minutes behind. Okay, we can handle that. The good news? His medication was actually there this time! The bad news? Now they’re telling us they’re running about an hour and a half behind. And this is the reality of cancer treatment that people don’t always see. The waiting. The delays. The exhaustion. The uncertainty of what time you’ll actually get home. But there was one bright spot! After Brian had to be stuck four times during a previous visit, his IV went in smoothly today! 💙 Was it the Liquid I.V. we tried to help with hydration? Was it a really good nurse? Maybe a little of both? We don’t know, but we’ll take the win! Meanwhile, we’re sitting here munching on pretzels, hoping we can get home at a reasonable hour and that Brian feels well enough to eat something. And of course, life outside the hospital doesn’t stop. Pixie is home recovering from emergency dental surgery, and we still need to get back to feed her soft food and take care of our three pups. 🐾 This is what caregiving looks like. It’s not just showing up for treatment. It’s managing everything else in life while cancer continues to demand so much of your time, energy, and emotions. Some days are frustrating. Some days are exhausting. And sometimes you just have to celebrate the little victories. Today, that victory was getting the IV in on the first try and knowing the medication was actually there.
