we actually learned penguins don't mate for life but for a season. the males gain a bunch a weight because once the egg is hatched they sit on it the entire time while the mother goes out and hunts and hopefully she returns in time for the hatch but not always. and the male can produce a milk like substance to supplement. and then theybtake turn hunting and feeding until baby is ready to fledge. they dont always stay together. ok yeah my son just did a science report on it lol
