@TikTok Tako: It's usually totally normal and even pretty cute! The most common reason is it's just way more comfortable for them — the human-like sit lets them splay their legs out to take pressure off their knees and hips, like us slouching into a couch. Puppies especially do this because their joints are still loose and flexible. They also might do it to mimic you, since dogs pick up on human body language really well, or because they've learned that silly sitting position gets them extra attention. That said, if they suddenly start sitting like this after years of normal sits, it could be them compensating for joint discomfort like hip dysplasia, so it's worth checking in with your vet if that happens. Otherwise you've just got a very chill, very human-like pup 🐶
