except that teleporting is cool, useful, reduces carbon emissions made by cars and could probably save our planet. ai works as a tool but when art is a passion not a job it's just a big obstacle.

Yeah let's make up ridiculous comparisons to explain why this technology destroying our livelihoods and the planet is a good thing... Cool.

You're missing a point though. Ai in itself isn't Intrasequently bad. The issue is that companies focus on generative ai an et hey train them to replace humans in artistic fields. There is no reason for an ai to be able to write a book about human suffering in times of war, to be able to paint a painting worth the same as the greatest masterpieces in history or to be able to change/generate a picture to have puttin trump and kim jon un jerk each other in a triangle.
And that's an issue because the majority of artists don't make their art for money. The few who do get some kind of revenues of it usually only release and sell SOME of their pieces. Not all of them (at least for things like paintings drawings etc)

This is so stupid. As this statement has been made for everyone technology. Do you know how many people’s jobs IPhone away? Do you also know how many jobs were indirectly and directly created?

Comparing AI with teleportation is wrong ! AI replace human thinking, teleportation would replace human travelling. Each feature is important for human survival. For Robotics the same “drama” have been mentioned, but look how less robots are building our cars. AI consumes a lot of power and needs interfaces, I’m sure that human will regulate that and won’t allow that AI can do too much .

yeah but we wouldn't install teleporters in everyone's homes in one day, so the change would be gradual, not instant overnight.

So the problem then is not the technology but the system of political economy that surrounds it.

But isn’t this like thinking the boat making business would disappear when bridges were invented? Individual gates would not cost as many jobs as you think. A gate or “bridge” can only take so many people/ vehicles/ cargo at a time right? It’s simply a different mode of conveyance. One that would probably be priced high enough to only be used for long travel, like jets.

ah yes. the age old argument of taking jobs. we should give up modern farm machinery so we can return an agrarian society with near 100% employment.

The example of synthesizers replacing musicians is very flawed imo, not only do they have to be operated by a musician, but they also didnt replace musicians at all. There are many, many, MANY great and popular bands and artists that dont use synthesizers at all. i believe that it expanded the music industry moreso than replaced it.

Mr. Hacker :
AI is actually different from all the other advancements that you mentioned in your examples. Machines previously displaced particular activities, while human judgment, adaptability, and intelligence remained valuable. With advanced AI, human intelligence will no longer have any value anymore which is a huge threat to all of us humans.

I think your missing the creativity aspect in this analogy as ai art isn’t an upgrade like teleportation is for travel

tbh this isn't even correct it's the fact they're also replacing our hobbies, like bruh I don't want AI to make my art I want it to make my sandwich of

ai is dangerous because people are treating it as perfect. its not. its gets things right 90% of the time. which is good but you can't treat it as perfect

also in the same way that a teleporter would make people exercise less because everything is in walking distance, Ai allows for cognitive offloading, lowering everyone's iq overtime.

we would just need UBI. we WANT robots to take our jobs. that's the whole point of them being invented in the first place! we don't want to work that's the point. we just need UBI. The tech isn't the problem, it's the human run governments.

think how many jobs were replaced by automative farming equipment such as the combine harvester.... yet our modern world could not exist without it... job loss and innovation isn't always a bad thing, we will see with AI
