This is the worst take I’ve ever heard in my life. Fritz in inside the service line when Alcaraz hits that chip, this is a standard close the net situation and he easily can get there while that ball is above the height of the net and put it away. He hesitates because of nerves but this would’ve been a routine volley for Fritz if he had any net presence whatsoever but he’s a ride or die baseliner so he has absolutely no instincts at the net

Agree he def didn’t hit a good backhand. But alcaraz was still far back after that slice. So any decent volley would have worked. Def should have hit a volley

I disagree. Him letting it bounce isn’t the biggest issue. It’s where he hits the shot. Towards the middle when he is at the service line and off to the side. He practically gave Carlos the biggest possible space while restricting his own time to recover. It was possibly the worst possible shot selection in that position imo
