This is absolutely disgusting and a slap in the face to our Vietnamese people esp considering the atrocities our ancestors endured under French colonialism and Imperial Japanese occupation. Let't not forget that Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan were allies during WWII... This is why it's so important to educate ourselves about history while incorporating humanity, empathy and nuance into these conversations. We need to understand what these hateful symbols represent and the generational trauma associated with them. But beyond remembering history, how can we learn from the sacrifices of those who came before us to challenge oppression, support those suffering today and build solidarity with one another?
