I think when he bought that house and had that vision, he had Amber on a pedestal in his mind. Now that all of her truth has come out, it seems it slowed him down a little. Not to say that he doesn’t love her or that she’s not worthy of marriage, but I think it just slowed his movement a bit. I still see them marrying because he’s no saint either. They both may need up keep it slow for a minute.
