🌴 Vegetation update coming soon 🌳 . Yo everyone, I’m sorry I was away from the socials for a little time, the last update didn’t have the effect I hoped, got a lot of unfollows and I had a big drop of motivation. But I’m hyped again so let me explain you why 😉 . I spent a lot of time debugging the Xbox build, but the Xbox one is so trash even an empty scene can’t be rendered at more than 30 fps (I tested everything). I can’t build the game for Xbox specifically and UWP just doesn’t allow me to have something decent on Xbox one. I heard the FPS are ok on Xbox Series but launching the new map crashes, I fixed it for Xbox One but it keeps crashing on Series X which is stupid. I don’t have this console to debug it so it might take some time but trust me, developing for console as a solo dev is a nightmare. . Anyways after a long time of questioning my past decisions, I realized that the Xbox one should be dying, in 2024 none of the AAA games are supposed to be launched on Xbox One, so how could I possibly try to match the visuals and do a better job at optimizing the game than them. So I need to stop expecting the game to work on Xbox One and I’ll try to fix it for Series X when I get the chance. The game has become a real demanding game, so it’s normal if it doesn’t run on a low end laptop too. . Accepting that was hard but it allows me to keep moving forward, I inverted in some assets to help me optimize the game, and render trees and grass in a more efficient way. This is how the game looks with some trees covering the mountains and some interactive grass on the ground, it feels amazing and runs pretty decently, I can’t wait to let you guys try that and I’ll probably make a video about the techniques I’m using 😉 .
