@kezenmanhwa: If your morals shift when it comes to fiction, then it's sad to say, that you never really had morals at all. #manhwareccomendation #remarriedempress #manhwafyp #manhwa #kdrama Rashta, Navier, Heinry, Soveishu
idk I'm rereading this because the live action came out and people acting like her slave status was what used to make her a villain I think are wrong. Like yes she would be looked down on because of it but she made terrible choices and was intentionally cruel. He calling Navier sister and then being upset when Navier said the next mistress can call her sister shows from the start that she knew it was an insult and smirking when naviers lady in waiting was severely punished was evil. Right from the start she showed she had bad character and the more power she gained the worst she got. Its definitely the emperor's fault for a lot of her actually innocent missteps in high society but at the same time he did assign someone to guide her and she just didn't listen. I think she was written really well like when she abused the bird and framed the maid and had her tongue cut out I really hated her but when she threw her baby because she had PTSD from being given a dead baby I felt so much sympathy for her. she's a polarizing character and it was interesting seeing her inner thoughts when she was spiraling but at the end of the day she was a terrible empress that didn't care about any of her subjects and she was also a victim of the empire. I also think it's interesting that people talk about how because of the power dynamics rashta didn't have a choice when being with the emperor but neither did Navier she was arranged to marry him with no choice and as a noble woman in that society she had no power to refuse.

Liking a character doesn’t mean defending everything they had done. There are actions Rashta committed out of survival and there are wrong actions Rashta committed that is not related to survival. Saying it’s wrong to made fun of illiteracy esp since it was tied to her background is not equivalent to saying “Rashta had done nothing wrong and she’s an innocent uwu girl because she’s a s//ave!” They should know that.

all of the characters in RE and the story itself has a lot of potential to have morally grey characters without praising them and to show the flaw of their social system but the author is not that skilled to write that kind of story

The problem lies in the author. Rashta is malicious and not a good person. However, the Manhwa writers deciding to make Slavery a Villainous Trait, icky. There’s no way to say it, it’s racism and willful ignorance on their part.

The only wrong thing Rashta did is not offing Sovieshu so she could steal the throne.
