When the little ones get overwhelmed with big emotions, they scream, cry and roll on the floor. It’s messy, but it’s also necessary. That’s how they release the energy and come back t calm. Adults, though? We’re pros at suppressing. Something triggers us, we feel the wave of emotion, and instead of letting it out, we bury it. We say things like, “I’m fine,” push through, and move on. But that doesn’t make it go away… See, your brain has a fire alarm called the amygdala. Its job is to detect threats and keep you safe. When you’ve had trauma, that fire alarm can get stuck in overdrive, going off at the slightest hint of a “threat” (even when there isn’t one) HOWEVER! Trauma isn’t the event itself but rather how your body responds to it. If the emotions tied to the event are too much to handle in the moment, your body stores them. Think of it like stuffing all your junk into a closet and slamming the door. You might not see it, but it’s still there, piling up. Eventually, that emotional clutter starts affecting you physically, mentally, emotionally. Anxiety, chronic stress, random aches and pains… that’s your body keeping score. And it’s not because you’re broken, it’s because your nervous system is trying to protect you. The key? You have to make space to process and release those emotions in a safe way. That doesn’t mean throwing a tantrum at the grocery store because they didn’t have your favorite cereal (tempting, I know), but it does mean finding healthy outlets. This is where tools like Spinal Energetics, breathwork, and other nervous system-based modalities come in. They create a safe environment for your body to do what it needs to do - whether that’s shaking, crying, or simply letting go of stored energy. When you make space for that kind of work, you’re not just healing your body…you’re healing your whole life and generational trauma I invite you to give yourself permission to let it out (safely). Ready for consistent healing? Doors are open to my EVOLVE membership that includes biweekly live Spinal Energetics to release trauma and regulate your nervous system.
