UK 🇬🇧 here. This exact weaponising of Sharia Law takes place here as well, mainly by right-wing racist parties like ReformUK. It's interesting that in the US it's gone a few steps further by your government having some kind of inquiry into it. Well done to both ladies here clarifying exactly what Sharia Law is.

The issue is not about 'the law in the legal sense. muslims still have to be law abiding citizens in the land they live on', it's about the social factors that influence culture. First thing The West should do is figure out what the top 100 'laws' would be and I guarantee that even muslims wouldn't use The Qur'an to compile that as they prefer to outsource their thinking to traditionalists and 'scholars'.
