@root.visual50: you can escalate from a standard user to full SYSTEM access on windows in under 5 minutes — using publicly documented, unpatched techniques. privilege escalation is how attackers go from "i'm in" to "i own everything." ransomware needs SYSTEM to encrypt all files. spyware needs admin to persist. without successful PrivEsc, most attacks stay limited. the three main techniques: UAC bypass — auto-elevating windows binaries like fodhelper.exe are exploitable by any standard user. no UAC prompt. no warning. result: administrator access. DLL hijacking — apps load DLL files from predictable locations. if an attacker can write to that location, they control what the app loads. a service running as SYSTEM loads a malicious DLL → SYSTEM code execution. kernel exploits — bugs in the windows kernel itself. eternalblue, printnightmare — these are real CVEs, patched, but only if you update. the defenses: run as standard user, not administrator (least privilege). enable automatic windows updates — patches close most of these. log event ID 4672 and 4688 — alert on unexpected privilege changes. enable credential guard on windows 11 pro/enterprise. save this. check if you're running as admin right now. #privilegeescalation #windowssecurity #cybersecurity #rootvisual
