@greenfield.chronicles: An 18-year-old man was booked Friday in connection with the Moss Landing shooting that killed two teenagers, according to Monterey County jail records. Donald William Breeden was arrested after sheriff’s detectives served search warrants Thursday in Greenfield and King City. He was booked into Monterey County Jail on two counts of murder with criminal street gang enhancements. Bail was set at $2.035 million, the Sheriff’s Office said. The first warrant was served at about 3 p.m. in the 900 block of Maple Avenue in Greenfield, where three people were detained. A second warrant was served at about 6 p.m. in the 45000 block of Crown Avenue in King City. The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday along Jetty Road in Moss Landing. Deputies found two people who were pronounced dead at the scene: Nathaniel Flores, 13, and Marco Antonio Perez, 15, both of Salinas. A third person arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound. A fourth person was taken from the scene to a hospital with injuries that were later determined to be unrelated to the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said. “These are persons of interest. At this time, the detectives are speaking to those individuals to try to determine what exactly happened on the morning of November 2nd. This is an ongoing active investigation. Our detectives have not stopped working on this case,” Monterey County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Andres Rosas said. Both teens attended schools in the Salinas Union High School District. The district said it was offering counseling and other resources to students affected by the shooting. Flores also played for the Steinbeck Tigers, a Monterey Bay youth football league. The team said it was “heartbroken by the loss of one of our young tigers.” Monterey County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office; tips can be provided anonymously. "We know that everybody wants answers. The last thing that we're going to do as a sheriff's office is put out incorrect information. We need to make sure that we have the exact details. The correct information, all of the facts that are needed to announce what type of investigation is being conducted at this time," said Rosas. The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. N. Kennedy at 831-755-3773 or Detective R. Geng at 831-759-7279. #greenfield #chp #crash
