Let’s wash our hair brushes! One of those little cleaning jobs that’s so easy to forget, but so satisfying once it’s done. Hair brushes collect oil, dust, and styling product buildup, so pulling out the loose hair is only the first step Here’s how to clean your hair brushes with warm water and a little gentle soap. What you’ll need • A bowl or clean sink • Warm water • A few drops of mild shampoo or dish soap, I use @koalaeco • A comb • An old, clean toothbrush • A clean towel Instructions 1. Use your fingers or a comb to gently remove as much hair as possible from the bristles. 2. Fill your bowl or sink with warm water and add a few drops of soap. 3. For fully washable plastic brushes, soak bristle side down for 10–15 minutes only if the manufacturer’s care instructions allow it. For wooden, cushioned, or natural-bristle brushes, skip soaking and follow their specific cleaning directions. 4. Dip your toothbrush into the soapy water and gently scrub between the bristles to loosen oil and product buildup. 5. Rinse washable brushes thoroughly with clean water. For brushes that can’t be rinsed, remove soap with a lightly dampened cloth or cleaning brush. 6. Shake off excess water and leave on a clean towel to air dry completely, following your brush’s recommended drying position.
