@a_purple_phase: A moment to enjoy mom and her new friend, the Hedge Hog (HH.) I've brought so many "toys," activities, photo albums, pictures, food to mom throughout this journey. Most are a fail. Cats she balked at, activities she didn't understand, crackly tetured blankets that kind of freaked her out! :( So when I get a win, i'm happy. I think this little HH fidget toy was a total win! (If you can call it a "win") I'm always reminded of dealing with my kids when they were toddlers and now my grandbabies. I'm constantly watching them to see how they examine, play or understand a toy. What draws them close to something or doesn't. I love watching them learn and grow. But for mom, for dementia, its just different. The toy isn't truly helping, mom isn't going to get better, she isn't going to learn or remember or understand. But it gave her some form of stimulation, something to focus on, to contemplate. Is there any benefit to that? IDK, I honestly don't knowl. But its something.
