nearly all farmed figs (95%) that are found in the grocery store are parthenocarpic (self fertilizing) and don't involve wasps at all.. but even in the wild are only ripe enough to eat after they have entirely dissolved and consumed the wasps within. On the otherhand, whenever you eat bread, you DO literally consume dead insect carcasses. All wheat contains insect fragments, and may even contain rat poop if the milling process is "natural". (natural processes often don't clean the grain as well).
