@synthetic.8: Knicks Defend Taylor Swift After Tyler Kolek Calls Her A “Performative” Fan The New York Knicks are publicly backing Taylor Swift after one of their own players questioned her fandom. Point guard Tyler Kolek, 25, made the comment in an NBA 2K League clip shared Thursday, Nov. 5. He and teammate Miles “Deuce” McBride were asked who the “fakest” celebrity fan at an NBA game is. Kolek said celebrity fans at Knicks games can be “very performative.” He added, “Maybe Taylor Swift? I don’t know if I’ve seen her at any other games.” He also said, “I’m going to get some hate from the Swifties.” A Knicks spokesperson then gave PEOPLE a statement. “Taylor Swift has been a Knicks fan for many years, has a long history with Madison Square Garden, and we are incredibly appreciative of her support of the organization,” it read. Swift, 36, was last seen at a Knicks game on June 10 for Game 4 of the NBA Finals. She wore a “Stevie Knicks” shirt and sat courtside with Alana and Este Haim. She was also photographed at Knicks games in 2014, including one with Karlie Kloss and Ben Stiller. McBride named Stiller and Tracy Morgan as celebrities he considers “solid” fans. Do you think the Knicks were right to defend her? #TaylorSwift #tylerkolek #newyorkknicks #NBA #celebrity
