Sprouse, 34, spoke with former costar Phill Lewis on Lewis’s podcast, Wildmen. He said he appeared in nearly 190 episodes of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. “The only residual check I’ve ever received for The Suite Life at all was a crossover episode with Hannah Montana for 5 cents. I’m not joking,” he said. He remembered showrunner Danny Kallis running onto the set with a newspaper. The headline said the show was beating The Sopranos in ratings. “My first question was ‘What’s The Sopranos?’” Sprouse joked. Still, he said that moment pops into his head sometimes. “And we still didn’t get a single f---ing residual,” he said. Sprouse explained it was a time before streaming, with a “certain amount of channels.” Lewis, 58, said the show played in over 90 countries. He said it aired four or five times a night. Lewis also claimed the cast shot “wraparound episodes.” He said they filmed one scene a week from a future episode until a whole new episode was built. “They weren’t paid for that episode,” Lewis claimed.
