@topmilitaryus: The Somali government's proposal to purchase up to 24 JF-17 Thunder Block III supersonic fighter jets from Pakistan is now one step closer to completion. This comes after the military and air defense forces of the two nations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in Islamabad. From military training and counterterrorism tactics to the all-encompassing development of air defense capabilities, this bilateral agreement encompasses a variety of strategic collaboration forms. The signed paper prepares the path for the conclusion of negotiations for the acquisition of military equipment worth at about 900 million USD, even tho it is not yet an official purchase deal. Fighter jets, cutting-edge weapons, staff training, infrastructure, and logistical support are all included in this sum. After decades of restricted combat capabilities following the fall of the central government in 1991, this procurement plan is expected to be a significant turning point in the modernization of the Somali Air Force. The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and China's Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation collaborated to produce the JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jet, which is a perfect fit for Mogadishu. Following the successful delivery of fighter jets to other nations like Nigeria, Myanmar, and Azerbaijan, Pakistan's defense diplomacy in the African region is strengthened by this potential contract, which also strengthens the penetration of its military aviation industry into international markets. In the meantime, Somalia itself benefits greatly tactically from having this fleet of supersonic fighter jets to support ground surveillance operations and fend off attacks from local terrorist organizations. However, Mogadishu still faces significant obstacles in the areas of spare parts management, local technician and pilot training, and base infrastructure preparedness. As the formalization of the deal moves forward, Somalia aspires to establish a self-sufficient and sustainable military aviation ecosystem thru a tight collaboration with Islamabad. #jf17thunder #jf17thunderpakistan #jf17thunderblock3 #fighterjet #somalia #new #military #airforce
