GREENACRES, FLORIDA, USA — Anita Maria Apellido Cetina, a 24-year-old Colombian nanny who died in the November 1 Learjet crash that k¡lled nine people, made an emotional final video call to her sister shortly before boarding the aircraft. Her sister, Angie Cetina, told The U.S. Sun that they spoke through a video call before the flight. Anita showed her the children she cared for and the private jet that was preparing to take them to the Bahamas. “We did a video call, she showed me the children, she showed me the plane,” Angie recalled that her sister was excited about the trip because she had never visited the Bahamas. “She was very happy. She was truly happy because she had never been to the Bahamas, and even though she was working, she didn’t see it as work. She enjoyed it.” Anita was working as a nanny for technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp and their two young children. The family, their nanny, two close friends and two pilots were aboard the Learjet 60, which departed Austin, Texas, for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas on November 1. The aircraft crashed near Greenacres in Palm Beach County, Florida, k¡lling all nine people aboard. Anita's sister said she initially struggled to believe her sibling was among the victims after seeing reports of the crash. “I saw the accident, I saw the flight path, and truthfully, I didn’t want to accept that it might be my sister on the plane,” Anita was a biomedical engineer who had moved to the United States approximately two years earlier. She was just weeks away from celebrating her 25th birthday. Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash. Investigators have identified icing, turbulence and possible aircraft breakup as areas of examination. The official cause of the tragedy has not yet been determined.
