@viralnews.usa: Jacquelyn Smith’s husband first described her D*eath as a random act of cruelty. He said she had stopped to help a woman holding a baby. But investigators later uncovered a very different story. Jacquelyn, 54, was in a car with her husband, Keith Smith, and his daughter, Valeria, in Baltimore on December 1, 2018. Keith told police that a man approached after Jacquelyn offered a woman $10, then Att*cked her and took her belongings. She was taken to a hospital, where she passed away. Detectives began checking the details. They found no evidence at the location Keith described, and nearby camera footage did not show the family’s car on the claimed route. Phone location records also placed Valeria’s phone miles away from the scene she had described. Her account and Keith’s explanation did not match. In March 2019, Keith and Valeria were arrested in Texas near the Mexico border. Valeria later admitted that the story about a stranger had been made up, said she witnessed her father’s actions, and testified against him. She also admitted disposing of Jacquelyn’s purse. Valeria pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact and was sentenced to 10 years, with five years suspended, followed by probation. Keith was convicted of first-degree M*rder in December 2021 and sentenced to life in prison in February 2022. Prosecutors argued that a life insurance policy worth at least $500,000 was part of the motive. The case became a reminder that careful investigation can reveal the truth hidden beneath a convincing story. Which piece of evidence do you think changed the case the most? #JacquelynSmith #TrueCrime #BaltimoreCase #CourtCase #Dateline
