Do people not realise 95% of everyday applications, such as banking apps, social media, streaming, maps, online shopping, email and even work tools like Microsoft Teams, run on data centres? Every card payment, every Netflix show, every ChatGPT query runs through one - So yes, we do need data centres.

Data centres have brought in millions of income to Ireland jobs, taxs ect. We should not push them away as we would collapse without them. Ireland need tech and pharmaceutical to keep running. But what should change is how the power is given to them. Data centre should produce it's own power through solar and wind. A lot of data run solar panels on the roof to help reduce the load but not all centres do that. There are pros to them being here but also a fair bit of cons. They need us and we need them. work with each other not against

We need more datacenters but not subsidised by the public through electricity or taxes. The solution is cheap abundant energy supplies. But the EUSSR, Israel and USA have a blockade on energy entering Europe costing Europeans trillions in financial damages.

all these idiots in the comments saying "what about your phones" these protests are on singular use hyperscaled centres for AI not general purpose data centres or tradional corporate ones. Once the investment dies down these data centres will become useless and there's only one use case for at most two customers open AI and anthropic
