i love the tone shift. it genuinely makes it seem more realistic and it’s wholesome. it’s still chaotic but it isn’t crazy and now it feels like a real family that somehow is always in a predicament but they love eachother dearly

I remember the show was originally supposed to be about a family of cannibals. Yes, that could have been a fun premise, but it would have been a 1-joke premise and fallen apart after a season.

I really love the “newer” seasons, I really love the depth and care and LOVE between them. Every single tv show is an unconventional chaotic family, but everyone has an unconventional chaotic family. It’s nice to watch a show where the family feels real but happy

One of the best things they did was make Bob & Teddy truly friends. And they didn’t just write it in & ignore the past seasons, they gave them a journey where Bob realizes that Teddy is his best friend & he had taken him for granted. Not a lot of shows would do that - they’d either keep him as a weird guy they tolerate or it would go unaddressed or they would force Teddy to change. Instead they wrote in a character growth for Bob & let Teddy be someone they all truly care about as himself. Like, the levels of character development that reflect real human experience run the gamut on this show but this particular example is a top one for me.

I love all seasons so I find it ridiculous that people refuse to watch some of them but I’ve got to admit that I prefer the more empathetic, later-season Louise. She’s more of a character that fights for the little guy now, which I love combined with her ruthless ambition!

So what I really miss about the old episodes is I don't like the switch from weird incidental music to the family all having musical numbers all the time. Like, I miss stuff like the Dirty Ducks bit from the Florida episode or the trucker song from Food Truckin'

I love how unhinged the old seasons were and I wish the new seasons were a little more like that but I still LOVE the new seasons. it’s so funny and the heartwarming vibes make it stand out from other family cartoons

not only the lil smile made the early seasons look weird. specifically abt linda that i noticed, her face changed. in the early seasons her philtrum is too long(even compared to the original artstyle the one in black and white)
