All you have to do is pay someone to come in and help unless there’s a reason you don’t 🤷♀️

Nursing facilities offer “Respite Care” to give families a break for a few days or even weeks, you guys should really look into it, it’s such a huge help. 24/7 care. 🥹

Very true Dan, it’s exhausting for sure! My mother now needs 24/7 care and she/nor I can afford to forkout rhe amount of money a month for the kind of care she needs. And, Medicare doesn’t help and she doesn’t qualify for Medicaid—so out of pocket private pay is 15-20k a month 😳

There comes a point when you have to recognize that you cannot do it all. Your parent deserves proper care, but you deserve a life, too. You deserve peace, time with your spouse, and the ability to enjoy your remaining years.
You can love your parent with all your heart and still recognize that caring for them at home is breaking you. Choosing professional care isn’t necessarily abandonment. Sometimes it’s the most loving and responsible decision for everyone involved.

you have to forgive your self it can’t be easy. Everybody loses control sometimes and says things that they can’t take back… Maybe next time you get emotional like that just remember he’s not here forever.[Twin hearts]

I totally understand Dan, I'm going through the same thing with my mom and I'm doing it solo as I'm an only child.

As a caretaker, honestly it's hard to have to be happy cleaning up someone's b.m. You love them and do it but you don't have to like it

Don’t keep kicking yourself. Everyone snaps now and then. Caregiving takes it out of you. My Mom sundowned all week and kept trying to climb out of bed. And I snapped at her. She passed later on that day. I feel bad still. That was in April. But I know she was transitioning to death and was so confused. Maybe try to nap with him during the day when he does
