Bengals did something similar it can be done but a dak extension is looming to make space.

Be careful about paying jpj don’t wanna get burned like we did paying diggs and bland, I’ll say franchise tag him and wait another to see his play

Dak is going to want 70 mil / year at least, and knowing him, he won't sign for less than 75/yr

Keeping the same scheme isn’t going to make this team better, trade Pickens free up cap space, get some more defensive talent and focus on developing a competent defense

I wouldnt be mad at trading pickens as long as its a good trade, flournoy could easily hold a solid wr2 spot

But to what purpose? I mean if keeping them meant they have a REAL chance at winning a SB then sure...

I remember the near 20 qbs between Aikman and Romo. We are lucky to have gotten Dak at the end of Romo's career. He was severely underpaid in his first contract and refused to sign unless he was overpaid in his 2nd and 3rd contracts. He'll be a legend if he takes a Brady-like contract in his 4th and helps Dallas win a Superbowl

The real problem is their agent loves to reset the market. You have Pickens @ 34M annually in this scenario. Top average annual salary for WR is 42M. So I think 40M is probably the floor. 😅 Your Porter deal seems more realistic but they will certainly want at least what you’re purposing. Now can they? Absolutely, they can restructure contracts and add void years. They can kick everything down the road but would that be prudent? For this roster? They are 3-5 with those guys now and you to risk cap hell for what? A potential .500 ball club? I don’t believe they’ve shown enough and they need to get better at defense. They should sign JPJ but if I was Cowboys; I’d be working the phones real hard with the Raiders trying to convince them they need Pickens for Mendoza next year and try to convince them swap us for Crosby. Throw in a sweetener to try to make that happen. Maxx is already under contract and from a roster building standpoint you’d be a lot more balanced offensively/defensively and from a financial standpoint as well.
