Today has been a much better day, and after yesterday, we desperately needed one. Landon's doctors started him on a continuous fentanyl drip to better manage his pain and increased his ventilator oxygen to 50%. Thankfully, he seemed so much more comfortable today, which was an enormous relief. He also went back to the OR today for his right thigh wound, and everything went well! We spoke with the plastic surgery team afterward, and they explained that his previous wound VAC had developed a leak, so they removed and replaced it. The new one has a good seal and is working properly! Even better, the surgeons said his wound looked really good overall! They did remove some tissue they felt wouldn't heal well if left in place, but otherwise they were pleased with how things looked. The plan is to reassess his wound weekly and continue allowing it to heal and become smaller. Once it's ready, they'll attempt to close it using a skin graft. We're praying that his wound continues healing without any further complications! After yesterday's heartbreaking experience, a formal complaint was filed against the nurse involved. The ICU supervisor and charge nurse agreed that what happened was unacceptable, and an investigation will be conducted. That nurse will no longer be part of Landon's care team. My number one goal will always be for Landon to recover, but I also want him to be comfortable throughout this process. His body and brain have already endured so much trauma, and he deserves proper pain management without unnecessary suffering. I know recovery is going to be a long road, but today I'm thankful for a successful procedure, encouraging news about his wound, better pain control, and a little peace after such a difficult day. Please continue praying for Landon's brain and body to heal, for his pain to remain controlled, and for continued progress. Keep fighting, Landon. We love you endlessly. ❤️ #GoFundMe #foryoupage #medical #motorcycle #accident
