@houstonchronicle: Democratic candidate Gina Hinojosa won the Texas governorship with more than a five-point margin against Greg Abbott, gaining an average of nearly eight points per county relative to Kamala Harris in 2024. Hinojosa also improved on 2018 gubernatorial candidate Lupe Valdez’s share of the vote by about six percentage points per county on average. The Houston Chronicle’s data analysis shows where Hinojosa gained ground across Texas, including in Rio Grande Valley counties and historically Republican strongholds in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. ⠀ 📝: Katherine Oung / data reporter 📹️: @tessa.pechal / social video producer
Yeesh. This had nothing to do with her. It was all about the senate which was what people cared about. If Republicans hadn’t killed their ticket by putting Paxton on top we’d likely have seen result similar to Florida with tight races but still GOP down the line.
