A sample week of workouts for a lifter who is a little over 4 weeks out from her half marathon 🏃🏻‍♀️ Many of you lift weights and also run like me, and you might be wondering how to plan your workouts to juggle both activities. Here is ONE example (of many!) of how you make it work. Some notes: 🗓️These days are not set in stone; I move the workouts around depending on what my schedule is looking like on any given week. I take some time to plug these into my calendar at the beginning of each week to ensure that I’m doing all the sessions I want to do while also getting adequate recovery. 👊My non-negotiables: 1 speed run, 1 long run, 3 lifts, and at least 1 rest day (ideally 2!) per week. ⏳I built up my body’s capacity to handle this much exercise over a period of six months. My “long” run back in September was 2 miles. Take it slow and don’t rush into things! 🍑 Personally, I prefer to do my hard speed runs on the same day as my lower body lifts. This gives my legs more recovery on the days in between. Ideally I separate the sessions by 6+ hours, but most days that’s not an option for me, so I do them back-to-back but ingest roughly ~30g carbs during the transition period. 💧I’m currently running 4-5 days a week as I near my half marathon. I could probably be fine with 3 days, but currently I’m enjoying the increased frequency. 💪I could also drop down my lifting frequency to 2x/week, but I enjoy it too much to want to do less. There are lots of ways to approach this, and ultimately you have to figure out what suits your preferences and schedule the best! 🫶 #HalfMarathon #HybridAthlete #LiftersWhoRun #RunningTips
