@thatguy__401: East Providence, R.I. - November 7, 2026 Crews were hard at work Friday night demolishing the Potter Street Bridge over Interstate 195 in East Providence as part of the ongoing Washington Bridge reconstruction project. I had the opportunity to watch the demolition firsthand, and I must say, it was pretty impressive and entertaining to watch! The crews wasted no time getting to work tearing down the bridge. I don't know why, but there was something oddly satisfying about watching the concrete come down and the CAT trucks tearing it up. I felt like I was releasing stress just watching it happen! As for traffic, it actually wasn't bad at all from what I observed. There was some initial backup when the highway first shut down as expected, but once traffic began flowing through the detours, congestion was minimal. East Providence had officers and traffic control personnel spread throughout the city. Considering the size of the operation and the closure of I-195 in both directions on a Friday night, I thought the coordination was impressive. Great job to everyone involved, including RIDOT, City of East Providence, East Providence Police, Rhode Island State Police, J.R. I work in Providence and work every Saturday. They told us to take the Henderson Bridge. Every single route to GET to the Henderson from my neighborhood was blocked off. [Tears of joy] I ended up just going around a "road closed" sign so I could actually get onto Warren Ave going west.
