@2cops1donut: A camera and a complaint don’t automatically create an ID requirement. I’m a cop. In these two encounters, the suspicious person call gets treated like automatic authority. We still need the facts and the applicable ID law. Asking and requiring are different things. What should an officer establish before requiring someone to identify? #FirstAmendment #KnowYourRights #TwoCopsOneDonut
You never need to show ID until you’ve been charged with a crime

until cops are held PERSONALLY liable, there will never be change. I think the only fix at this point is to require officers to carry an insurance that is equivalent to a doctor's malpractice insurance. when they are sued and found liable, their insurance pays the claim instead of the taxpayers. just like any other insurance, claims make your rates increase. go an extended period of time without a claim and your rates drop. bad cops will be priced out of being able to to be in the position because they can't afford the insurance or they're not incurable due to too many claims.

Cops LIE all the time! “When you have a professional interaction with a law enforcement officer, BY LAW you have to ID!” A phone call doesn’t rise to the level of RAS of a crime, but they will lie all day to get their ID fix. It’s crack to cops. 🤬

I know this isn’t a new post between this postal worker and the cop but I’m still seeing new ones and you would think with the power of the Internet that every police department would have a couple of these videos is mandatory training just to show them how not to cost their city hundreds of thousands of dollars
