Lived between C and D streets, right on the boardwalk, from 1977-1981. The building was called: SS Wheeler. I rented from Mrs. Wheeler. My apartment was 3rd floor, I could see from the Wedge to the Point. I ran that beach, rode bike and surfed just about every day. I have lived in Hawaii for 45 years now, but often in my dreams I am back home at the Wheeler.

We were sailing in the harbor on our friends boat 1978 or 1979. We saw John Wayne on his back porch We waved and he waved back to us.

I used to swim out to the end of the pier, maybe 50' away from it to just think about life. Every time lifeguards would come out on their boats and "try" to rescue me. When I told them I'm good they would tell me since they came out to save me I had to go back in. And every time I would be drying myself off and the lifeguard would barely be coming out of the water. I was a great swimmer. Spent so much time swimming at the beach it was easy...

One of my best memories was watching INXS film Devil Inside and getting to chat with Michael Hutchence. We also ran to buy the crew cigarettes at Bal Harbor in exchange for guitar picks.

I delivered pizza on my motorcycle in 1994 for Valentino's pizza on the Peninsula. On Friday nights and Saturday nights I used to crash out at the house of the guys who lived together who also worked there, we drank a lot and smoked a lot of weed back then, and at one of our parties there is where I met Tracy Lords who told me that she was in the movie Cry Baby, and she was so proud it was her first non-porno film! 😇
