I had the curse of being able to smell the kidneys shut down. Worked in long term care and felt like the grim reaper. When I smelled that smell from my father in law, it's was during Christmas dinner. Didn't say anything then, we just enjoyed the moment. Told my husband when we went home, he's an RN. Luckily we lived next door to help. he passed away less than two weeks after.
