I've posted on here nearly every day for close to two years. It started as a way to become a better communicator and a better teacher. Somewhere along the way, it became a practice that made hiding from myself impossible. Showing up here consistently is not for the faint of heart. Every time I hit publish, I have another opportunity to notice the parts of me that want to be liked, understood, admired, or left alone. I get to sit with criticism, projections, self-doubt, and the discomfort of letting myself be seen. Over time, each post has worked a little more shame out of my system. Each video has increased my capacity to be seen without abandoning myself. If you've followed me for a while, I think that's pretty evident. I'm saying things today that I never would have had the courage to say two years ago. I'm not suggesting your practice needs to be social media but I'm suggesting that every meaningful practice eventually reveals you. Whatever you commit yourself to long enough will eventually stop being about the thing itself and start becoming a mirror. And if you can resist the urge to run when that happens, you'll discover that the very thing making you uncomfortable is also inviting you into a deeper relationship with yourself. That's one of the central ideas I'll be unpacking in my free webinar in a few weeks as we explore the shame-based operating system and what it actually takes to step out of it. Comment
