Today I found myself in a state of overwhelmed. In the midst of what should’ve been productive preparation, I was unable to focus, stressed with my todo list, and distracted by life. The whirlwind was creating a fog of anxiety and I knew this was Satan trying to discourage me. Tomorrow I’ll be delivering a message to a group of women that incorporates my testimony as a widow and what it means to trust God with your “next.” Today should’ve been a day of final note taking and practice runs, but after many failed attempts, I just began writing the scripture I’ll be teaching tomorrow. I found a random sheet of paper, flipped it over, and started writing out what God was saying to me through each verse. I realized, this is what it means to meditate on the scripture. I did a quick Google search to find the verse about meditating on scripture, and felt the anxiety melt when I saw where the verse is. The instruction of meditating on scripture is only 2 chapters ahead of what I’ll be teaching on tomorrow. “This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.” ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭CSB‬‬ Sure, maybe Satan was trying to distract me from all the preparations. But I also think God may have been trying to get my attention. What if instead of another 3 hours of writing and rewriting, God was just asking me to sit with Him for a bit?
