If I could go back to the day I started my cleaning business and give myself some advice, there are a few things I’d practically BEG myself to do differently. 😂 Here’s the thing nobody really tells you about starting a cleaning business: getting clients is only one piece of the puzzle. Building a business that actually makes MONEY is an entirely different skill. You can have a packed schedule, a growing team, thousands of dollars coming in every week, and STILL wonder why there’s never enough money left over. Ask me how I know. 🙃 I’ve learned some of these lessons the easy way. Others? Well, let’s just say experience is an expensive teacher. Here’s what I’d do differently: 💰 I’d learn my numbers BEFORE I worried about growing. Revenue is exciting, but revenue doesn’t pay your personal bills. PROFIT does. You need to know what each job costs you, how much you’re spending on labor, and what you’re actually keeping. 🧹 I’d stop assuming every client is a good client. Some jobs look fantastic on the schedule but barely make you a dime. Being busy isn’t the same as being profitable. 👥 I’d be much more intentional about hiring. Employees can be an incredible asset, but payroll is a responsibility that doesn’t disappear when business slows down. Consistent demand and a sustainable labor model matter. 🏢 I’d keep overhead as low as humanly possible. You don’t need a fancy office, a warehouse full of supplies, or every piece of equipment on the market to build a successful cleaning company. You need customers, systems, and healthy margins. 📈 I’d stop treating growth like the ultimate goal. Bigger isn’t automatically better. More employees, more jobs, and more revenue can also mean more complexity, more expenses, and more stress. And perhaps most importantly? ❤️ I’d remember WHY I started in the first place. The goal wasn’t to create myself a job that consumes every waking hour. The goal was to build something that provides for my family, gives us freedom, and creates opportunities for other people. I’m still learning. Still adjusting. Still figuring out how to build a business that’s not just successful on paper, but successful in real life. And that’s why I share this stuff. Because if you’re building a cleaning business right now, I want you to skip as many of the expensive lessons as possible. You CAN build a profitable cleaning business. You CAN start small. You CAN build something wonderful without making it unnecessarily complicated. Build for profit. Build for sustainability. Build for the life you actually want. And if you’re new here, follow along! I share what I’ve learned about pricing, getting cleaning clients, and building a professional cleaning business that actually makes money. 👇 Cleaning business owners: What’s one thing you wish you’d known BEFORE you started? #CleaningBusiness #CleaningBusinessOwner #CleaningBusinessTips #CleaningBusinessStartup #SmallBusinessOwner
