Jeti-Ögüz Rocks has one of the most fascinating stories in Kyrgyzstan — and it is much more than just a beautiful photo spot. 🐂 The History & Legend of Jety-Oguz The name Jety-Oguz means “Seven Bulls” in Kyrgyz, referring to the famous row of massive red rock formations. For centuries, local nomadic people have known this valley, and the surrounding mountains were part of traditional pasture routes. Archaeological evidence in the wider area includes ancient burial mounds dating back to the Iron Age. But the most famous story is a Kyrgyz legend. According to the legend, two khans became enemies because of a beautiful woman. Their conflict eventually ended in tragedy. During a feast, seven bulls were killed — and after the woman was murdered, her blood was said to have transformed the bulls into the seven enormous red rocks we see today. That is why the rocks became known as Jety-Oguz — the Seven Bulls. ❤️ Nearby is another famous formation called Broken Heart, which has its own tragic love stories. 🏔️ Then came another chapter The valley also became famous for its thermal springs. Scientific studies of the thermal waters began in the early 20th century, and construction of the Jety-Oguz sanatorium began in 1931. During the Soviet period it became a well-known mountain health resort. Interestingly, in 1991, shortly before the collapse of the Soviet Union, an important meeting between Kyrgyzstan’s first president Askar Akayev and Russian President Boris Yeltsin took place at the sanatorium. Today, Jety-Oguz is where geology, ancient nomadic culture, legends and Soviet history meet in one valley. 🐂❤️🏔️ #JetyOguz #SevenBulls #Kyrgyzstan #KyrgyzstanTravel #VisitKyrgyzstan
