@news.hunter.fast: Eve Plumb Says She’s “So Glad” She Lost Out On A Role In One Of The Most Famous Horror Films Ever Eve Plumb was a household name as Jan Brady on The Brady Bunch. But she once auditioned for a very different kind of role. She went in for a reading for Regan MacNeil in 1973’s The Exorcist. Plumb told the Behind the Awards podcast in October that it was just a reading. She doesn’t think she was even put on film. At the time, The Brady Bunch was still on the air. The sitcom ran from 1969 to 1974. The part went to Linda Blair, who played a young girl possessed by a demon. Her performance became one of the most memorable in horror history. Today, Plumb has no regrets. She had read William Peter Blatty’s book, but she says she was never a fan of the movie. “I’m so glad I didn’t get that. It’s a pretty awful movie. Terrified me,” she said. In her memoir, Happiness Included, Plumb wrote that she watched the film in theaters. She was so frightened that she slept in her mother’s bed “for the next couple of nights.” She also wrote about Blair’s path afterward. Blair earned an Academy Award nomination and became a household name. But Regan became the role the press would not let her leave behind. “I have compassion for what the movie did for Linda Blair,” Plumb wrote. Would you have wanted to play Regan? #eve #hollywood #Linda #Brady #Classic
