@secora: Olive’s room is done!! All we have left is bathrooms and some finishing touches before we start decorating :) #rvlife #homereno #rv #singlemom #DIY
My husband and I spent the last two winters living in an RV, one winter in Wyoming and one in Iowa, so here's what we learned! We had an electric fireplace in the RV we used and in the kitchen we had a electric oil heater on a low setting. I think these two things saved us a lot of propane in the winter (we had two 30lb tanks). When we'd accidentally run out of propane at night that little oil heater could heat up the entire bedroom with the door closed to a pretty comfortable temp (happened to us at -25°F). You'll want skirting around the bottom of the RV to keep your pipes from freezing. We went through EZ Snap and cost us probably $2500. Some people build their own with thick foam board, but be mindful if you're in a windy area. If your trailer is winterized like ours, always leave your black and grey tank heaters on, but take note that your dump valves aren't heated! Some people use heated tape to wrap around it and their sewer dump slinky to keep it from freezing. I got a heater that's used for boat engines in the winter and pointed it towards the dump valve, and it had a fail safe that I felt safe sleeping knowing it wasn't a fire hazard. Also if it got too cold, like the -25°F days in Wyoming, and pipes ARE going to freeze no question, we'd completely drain our water lines at the low points so our pipes wouldn't burst and live off gallon jugs of water through the cold snaps. You can also do antifreeze. If you have any questions feel free to DM me, we've made all the mistakes 😂🫶

If you’re not moving the trailer, install a mini split. They make 115v ones and you can install a rv hook up utility post outside to plug it into. Will heat and AC your trailer

I lived in an RV with my daughter during the winter time in NM! My biggest tip, make sure you have 3 propane tanks full always!!! We had a 2 bedroom as well and it kept our rv toasty all winter 🥰

I think you can add a skirting to the bottom of the RV! It will help keep the cold air out from under it

Yeah careful with the heaters. We got a new rv and the old owners burned out almost all the outlets with a heater. You just have to check the specific wattage or whatever electrical specs to find the right heater for your electrical system

For high quality heat you should look into a free standing gas stove. It would have to be connected to the gas on the property somehow but it would keep you warm and kozy.

I have wall plug in heaters I found for our RV. We’re full time in Tennessee. They’re space saving and not hot to the touch!
