@moviegoodormoviebad: Replying to @ioannis v. Godzilla can be so many different tones, there have been so many different films, and it’s not everyone, but why are Godzilla fans so hostile to me, a life-long fan? #godzilla #kingghidorah #mechagodzilla #kingofthemonsters #fandom
King of The Monsters is a massive crowd pleaser with paper thin characters, and I love that version of Godzilla as much as I love a Godzilla Minus One because of it’s exploration of its characters and the force of nature that Godzilla is portrayed as. Seeing Minus Zero soon, hyped!

My favorites are all so vastly different from each other, I feel like it’s not fair to judge others for their favorites. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla was my first and still what I use as a basis for what I think a Godzilla movie should be. It’s my top nostalgia pick for sure. Shin Godzilla is my favorite for the Godzilla monster, where the story itself is pretty terrible, but I still love it because of the creature design and emotion. Minus One/Zero are the best when it comes to story beyond the monster parts. I’ve never really cared for the human storylines in previous Godzilla films, but sometimes I’ll straight up forget I’m watching a Godzilla movie when I put on Minus One, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. There are just so many options and they’re all so vastly different, why can’t people just like whatever Godzilla they like? All that to say I agree with you. 😅

Love Godzilla ever since I was like a bit little and you should be able to have opinion on which of the movies is good or bad in your eyes but you still enjoy the content and that’s what should matter

1999 Godzilla was just a big ass dinosaur with the heavy implication that there's at least anothe swimming around somewhere in the world.

Five more minutes of combat and Zero would’ve been perfect. I think they were too proud of their low budget to put any more CGI in.

you've convinced me to rewatch shin godzilla but the first two times I just couldn't get into it. minus one and minus zero checked all the boxes for me i love them very much and im rewatching them all. ive learned that anytime someone does a list bean soup theory spawn in. I did a top 10 martial arts movies and like 600 people were having meltdowns over what i didnt name lol

I think the ONLY good parts of King of the Monsters is the monsters aura farming, the rest i agree is cruddy. I don't really like the monsterverse movies in general outside of their depictions of the "Titans."

the idea of like power ranking every movie against others on an absolute scale is just so strange to me, especially when they start diary watching. who cares?

I am a long time Godzilla fan before u were born, so let me have my own opinion, Godzilla 1954 is the best movie of all following minus one & zero, shin Godzilla is in the lowest places for me, as for the monsterverse only the 2 first were ok, after that with the addition of the simp Kong become a joke 🤣 Hollywood doesn't understand what is Godzilla, thank God takashi Yamazaki is bringing the golden era for the big guy, do t take everything so seriously, chill out 😂

I feel like in a ranking only against other Godzilla movies, you pick the order you like it's not entirely an objective ranking. just indicative of your test and what you grew up on.

I think a lot of Godzilla (on top of a lot of general tokusatsu genre) fans kinda just suffer from just not watching anything outside of their genre that they love. Which isn’t EXACTLY a bad thing, but when someone has a different take to them they often take it as an attack to themself cause they cannot see themselves outside of that genre.

There’s soooo much nostalgia and fan worship surrounding Godzilla that it’s hard for hardcore fans to truly analyze the movies. I was 6 when the 99 Godzilla came out and it’s a huge reason why I’m a Godzilla fan, but now I’ll never say it was a good movie at this point.

I think this is a problem with fandom across the board. Star Wars gets the worst rep because of how popular it is, but I’ve seen it among slasher fans & kaiju fans as well. People can’t accept that some people have different opinions than theirs, or that works for them will not work for others
