School didn't teach me 90% of what I do as an Electrical Engineer. I just got that comment from an electrical PE, and I agree. So why are you adding that 90% to your resume? You've sent 50 applications and heard back from none of them. I did the same thing. One resume with every skill I ever touched on it, sent to every posting with "electrical engineer" in the title. Honda. Automation. Semiconductors. Utility. MEP. Three months of that and almost nothing back. The resume wasnt badly written. It just didnt say anything about a specific job. There is a shortage of electrical engineers. There isnt a shortage of EE grads. Firms arent short on people with a degree, theyre short on people who can do the job. If you're not getting interviews, its because your resume isn't working. So pick what field you want to go into, and only list the skills that are relevant for that job. Don't list a MATLAB project on a resume you send to an MEP firm. If you don't know what those skills are, read the job posting. If you don't have those skills, figure out a way to get them. For MEP engineering those skills are Revit, single line diagrams, and power calcs. When our students put a real Revit project on their resume, most of them start getting interviews at MEP firms within a few weeks. Not because Revit is magic. Because their resume tells us they know what job they are applying for and have the skills to do it. If youre serious about learning what we actually do as Electrical Engineers, follow my page. Im a licensed PE who went from unemployed grad to leading $100M+ projects. Ill show you what to actually learn and what firms are using right now. 👉 Click link in bio to learn the skills engineering firms are hiring for right now #electrical #engineering #student #mep #revit
