I think my brother saved me in more ways than he realizes. I didn’t even really acknowledge it until recently. Almost a year ago, I was going a really difficult season in life. Completely lost myself in a relationship, went through a break up after dating for 3 years, moved back in with my mom, turned 25, absolutely hated myself from the inside out, and I was lost. I was uncomfortable with myself and who I was and my worth felt impossible to find. My brother started inviting me on his runs and we stayed consistent with it. (Until he moved away recently) He was my biggest supporter and motivator and pushed me even on the days I didn’t really want to go. I started to get excited to go on runs and now it’s flourished into my overall health journey. He helped me see what I was capable of and how far I can go. I never thought I could even run a lap (sad, I know) but now I’m pushing myself beyond what I thought was even possible for myself. He helped me get uncomfortable which has led me to continue being uncomfortable and growing in ways I never thought I could. Eating better, running more, lifting. I don’t tell him enough, but I’m thankful for him and the way he has contributed to me finding my worth, building my confidence again, and putting myself out there more. He really started it all for me.
