In Lost, Sapphire is the Shadow Keeper. It's a title that sounds frightening—like something out of a nightmare. But the more I write about her, the more I realize that the shadows she carries are not darkness. They are hidden things—secrets, mysteries, the parts of ourselves we don't show the world. I used to be afraid of my shadows. The frustration, the loneliness, the fear of not being enough. But I've learned that those shadows have something to say. They are not my enemies. They are my teachers. The light does not fight the shadow. It illuminates it. And in that illumination, the shadow finds its purpose.
