Ford 2.0 EcoBlue Final Assembly & First Engine Start. • This is the final episode of our complete Ford Transit Custom 2.0 EcoBlue (BCFA, 136 kW) timing belt replacement series. • During this stage, every component removed during disassembly is installed back onto the engine following the manufacturer’s recommended procedures. Proper reassembly is just as important as the timing belt replacement itself, as even a minor mistake can result in oil leaks, coolant leaks, or premature component failure. • One of the most important steps is installing a brand-new front timing cover, which also serves as the housing for the front crankshaft seal. On the Ford 2.0 EcoBlue, the crankshaft seal is not available as a separate replacement part. The seal is integrated into the front cover, making the entire assembly a one-time-use component. • The original cover is manufactured from thin stamped steel and usually deforms during removal. Reinstalling a used cover significantly increases the risk of oil leaks around the crankshaft seal, which is why experienced technicians always install a new front cover whenever the timing system is serviced. • Special attention is given to the elastic coolant pump belt, which operates without a conventional belt tensioner. Instead, it must be installed using a dedicated installation tool that carefully stretches and rolls the belt onto the pulleys without damaging its internal reinforcement or outer surface. • Once the front of the engine is fully assembled, we continue reinstalling the cooling system components, coolant hoses, engine accessories, and all remaining parts removed during disassembly.
