Today’s question of the day was: What is something that happened to you in life that told you it was time for a change? For me, it was realizing we couldn’t afford the upfront portion of a surgery one of our kids needed. I will never forget how that felt. And when I say that moment became our financial rock bottom, I don’t mean that our situation was worse than anyone else’s. I know there are families facing circumstances far beyond what we experienced, and I know that having the ability to make changes in our finances is, in itself, something not everyone has. But this was our moment. The moment I realized I never wanted to feel that powerless over our finances again. I couldn’t control the fact that our child needed surgery. I couldn’t control the cost of healthcare. I couldn’t go back and undo every decision that had gotten us there. But I could look at what was within my control and decide what I was going to do next. For me, taking accountability has never meant blaming myself for everything that happens to us. It means recognizing where I do have power and choosing to use it. That day changed the trajectory of our lives because it changed the way I looked at our money. And every debt payment I make now is another step toward making sure that when life happens—and it will—we are in a better position to handle it. ♥️ #micropayments #debtfreejourney #debt #debtpayoffjourney #debtpayoff
