I shared on Instagram and my community there went WILD for it! I couldn’t not share here too. So here we are: Episode 2 of homemade presents for Willow 🎁 A series in which I make homemade presents for my soon to be 5 year old! My Sagittarius baby’s birthday is on the approach so forget Santa’s workshop: it’s all about Sydney’s workshop until the end of the month! I’m taking old things that she loves, to make new things, that I also hope she loves. In this episode I make an on- the- go candle, complete with matches, from an old tin she uses for trinkets and natural treasures (not for liquorice incidentally - she, nor I, have ever tried it!) If you’d like to make one of these too, it’s super simple: What you will need: An old tin Soy or beeswax, (or can use up old candles or tea lights) Candle wick (I used cotton) A box of matches String or ribbon Tape and a glue stick 🍬 Take your tin and clean and dry well 🍬 Melt your wax in a bain mairie (you could even melt tea light candles if you remove the silver wick and case) 🍬 Prepare your wicks in your tin (I use cotton wick, use whatever you have) 🍬 Pour your wax into your tin, TAKE CARE not to pour the wax over the hinge of the tin, otherwise the wax will spill out (I learned the hard way!) 🍬 Wait for your wax to cool, before trimming your wicks 🍬 Cut your matches to size and tie together with ribbon or string 🍬 Tape your matches into place 🍬 Cut a small section of strike paper and glue into place 🍬 Store the remainder of your matches and strike paper in a jar or container - waste not, want not! Do you like making gifts for your kids? Any suggestions for what I should make next? #handmadegifts #candlemaking #candletok

Episode 3 of homemade presents for Willow 🎁 A series in which I make homemade presents for my soon to be 5 year old! If there’s one thing Willow loves (asides from flowers and candles that is) it’s a personalised thing. Now I can’t embroider, I can just about sew, but I was determined to find a way to personalise something for Willow, so here’s what I did! It’s such an easy craft, a great way to dye clothes without needing to mordant first. I guess the colour will fade fast (without the mordant). But for a 15 minute make, while my kids were in the bath, I’m pleased with it! And better yet, I know Willow will be even more so. What you will need: A T-shirt Handful of flowers (what flowers I cannot tell you - this was trial and error with what we found on our walk today. The accounts above have glorious content available for ideas!) Hammer An old cloth (that you don’t mind staining) A pencil Instructions: 🌺 Draw your initial (or design) onto your T-shirt 🌺 Place your flower face down onto the T-shirt 🌺 Place your old cloth on top of the flower and hammer until the colour comes through onto the cloth (if this doesn’t happen it’s because your flower isn’t so good for flower pounding - pick another!) 🌺 Once pounded, gently peel off your flower and enjoy your print beneath 🌺 Continue pounding along your pencil line until your design is done! Note: remember to protect the surface you’re working on with something - so the colour doesn’t bleed through! And add protection in between your T-shirt - old newspaper would work- so that the colour doesn’t bleed through onto the back. #handmadegift #flowerpower
