Sharing to raise awareness because I didn’t know this would be the outcome for my daughter, or our family. FMH (Fetal-Maternal Hemmorage) is rare & occurs in 1 in 3,000 pregnancies, where your baby can lose blood from themselves into the placenta, causing anemia, loss of oxygen to their organs, and depending on the amount of blood loss, potential organ failure. Not many things cause this, from our experience we learned it could be trauma (car accidents, severe falls, etc) or nothing at all. In my case, nothing at all & it was impossible to catch as it’s predicted she started losing a significant amount of blood very rapidly a few hours before delivery. If you do experience any kind of trauma during your pregnancy, please go to your OB or L&D to follow up. Oaklynn was born with 1/3 the amount of blood needed, extremely anemic, & eventually diagnosed with multi-organ failure. Through multiple, multiple blood transfusions, multiple additional blood products, MRI’s, ultrasounds, dialysis, Parataniel surgery, our little fighter fought as long as she could & impacted so many lives around her. FMH doesn’t guarantee the same outcome as Oaklynn, as her passing is a result in 1 in 10,000 babies due to the amount of blood she lost, but it unfortunately is real & is rare. Before going through this with my daughter, I had no idea FMH existed. I looked into many things while being pregnant, but never heard of FMH. I will share my babies story in hopes to bring light to something that seems almost unheard of. #MomsofTikTok #fyp #nicubaby #pregnancy #firsttimemom
