![repost from @slash repost from @legendaryc0ncerts On July 21, 1979, AC/DC took the stage at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum as part of Bill Graham’s legendary Day on the Green festival series, appearing on the massive Day on the Green bill alongside Aerosmith and Ted Nugent. Despite their midday position, AC/DC’s performance is widely remembered as one of the highlights of the event. Even more remarkably, the show came just six days before the Highway to Hell album was released in North America, capturing the band at the exact moment they were moving from cult favorites toward global superstardom. The lineup was Bon Scott on lead vocals, Angus Young on lead guitar, Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Cliff Williams on bass and backing vocals, and Phil Rudd on drums. The synchronization between Angus and Malcolm Young created the unmistakable AC/DC guitar attack, while Phil Rudd and Cliff Williams provided the relentless rhythmic foundation. Above it all was Bon Scott, whose stage presence gave the performance its raw, dangerous energy. The 1979 Day on the Green footage remains one of the most significant filmed documents of the Bon Scott era.
