@alexandratealeaf: What was it like being a Norland Nanny? The stories are endless as there’s lots of detail! I’ve been asked to chat more on what being a Norland Nanny is about, and what skills I possess from being in the job. Why did I turn to social media as an outlet etc etc. I’m firstly really proud to be able to call myself a Norland Nanny, back in the day, we were hand selected and there were only 28 of us who graduated that year! Really small classes and very good training. Being completely honest, it’s changed so much now, it’s all through UCAS, they churn out over 100 Nannie’s per year now and the training seems to have changed vastly. To the point where clients ask for “old style trained Nannie’s” if they are used to that style over the new style of training. We did, cooking, sewing, practical skills lessons, lectures, placements, families, nurseries, schools, maternity wards etc etc. We are even trained in self defence, skid pan for driving, and of course, first aid. I could talk about it all day as it’s so in-depth! I have traveled the world being a nanny, and worked for some amazing people and some not so amazing people, but thus is life, and the same with any job. There’s a weird amount of secrecy around being a nanny as we are to be “discreet” but being open and honest about what I went through and the life skills I posses from this training should help others understand things a little better!!
