Look ma, no hands! Blade and steer control, now we don’t know what to do with our hands. More to come on this, stay tuned! If you aren’t familiar, gps is commonly used to build to plan elevations through controlling the blade of a dozer. With GPS corrections and IMU’s throughout the dozer, the machine knows exactly where the blade is at all time. Pair that with a model that has all of the plan grades in it and you can cut or fill to the exact design needed While this is a common practice, autonomy only controls the vertical aspect. As of recently, CAT and Trimble now allow horizontal autonomy. What this means in simple is: if you don’t have gps you use both hands, if you have gps with vertical autos you use one hand, if you have gps with vertical autos and steer control you use no hands.
