People seem to think that if something is legal tender places MUST take it. Businesses can choose what to take, it's up to them. How many times have you seen a notice "We don't accept £50 notes"

The shop is under no obligation to accept a commemorative coin.You can pay with jelly beans if they accept them but if they don't, you can't. Legal tender or not.

To be fair, and I've checked, any legal tender can be refused by a shop/store, but what if it was the other way round? Could we refuse any legal tender from a shop when they give us change?
